Tove | Cordless Natural Stone Bedside Table Lamp, Rechargeable and Dimmable

The Tove is a small piece of stone that lights from within. Switched off it reads as an object rather than a lamp, which is the point: it can sit on a shelf, a bedside table or a dinner table and look like something you chose rather than something you needed. Switched on, the stone goes translucent and the veining that was barely visible in daylight becomes the whole character of the piece.

There is no cord. A rechargeable battery sits in the base and charges over USB, so the lamp goes where the light is needed rather than where the socket is. That matters more than it sounds on a dining table, a windowsill or a shelf with no outlet behind it, and it is the reason a lamp this small earns its place.

Two shapes and two stone tones. The low dome sits under two and a quarter inches and disappears behind a stack of books; the upright pebble stands a little taller and reads as a sculpture. Both tones are pale. White is the cooler of the two with fine grey veining; honey is a warm cream with darker veins running through it. Because the stone is natural, no two pieces are marked the same way.
