Sylvi | Bauhaus Glass Dome Bedside Table Lamp, Six Colors

The Sylvi is a glass dome sitting on a slim metal base, and the whole thing runs on one idea: a shade that is the same color all the way through rather than painted on the outside. Light leaving tinted glass picks up the color as it goes, so the pool on the table below is warm and tinted too, not white light coming out of a colored box.

The proportions are Bauhaus by way of a bedside table. A wide low dome over a narrow stem, nothing decorative, nothing that reads as ornament. At 11 inches tall on a 7.9 inch footprint it takes up about as much room as a stack of books, which is what makes it work on a nightstand rather than only on a console.

Six glass colors, and they behave differently. White and beige keep the light close to neutral and disappear into most rooms. Pink, light blue and orange are doing something more deliberate. Red is the loudest of the six. All of them sit on the same base, and a push button on the cord turns it on.
