Description
Ninfea is a lotus leaf cast in green glass. The shade is broad and shallow, 11 in across, with a lobed irregular edge and veining that runs out from the center the way it does on a real leaf. It is not a tidy geometric shade and it is not trying to be. Lit from beneath, the veins read as darker lines against the glow and the lobed rim throws an uneven edge of light onto the ceiling.
It hangs on a 47.2 in braided cord from a 3.9 in canopy, which puts the leaf at table height. Over a round dining table, a kitchen island or a bedside it reads as something grown rather than manufactured, and it is the sort of fixture a room ends up being arranged around. Green is the only color it is made in, which suits it: the form is doing enough work without a palette.
It takes one standard E26 medium base bulb, not included, and is built for an LED. A filament style bulb shows the veining best, since a frosted one flattens the glass. It is not dimmable, so run it from a standard wall switch. It runs on 110V-120V (US Household Standard), is an indoor fitting, and should be kept out of bathrooms and covered outdoor spaces.
