Description
The Marit is a pleated linen shade on a curved metal arm, and the arm is what separates it from every other fabric lamp. It reaches out and over rather than standing straight up, so the light lands beside the base instead of directly on top of it. That is what you want on a desk or a reading chair, where the lamp needs to be out of the way of the thing it is lighting.
Pleated linen diffuses more evenly than a smooth shade because the folds break up the light before it leaves. You get a warm, even pool with no hard edge and nothing glaring back at you from under the rim, which matters at close range.
At just under twenty inches tall it has real presence, while the five inch base keeps the footprint small enough for a crowded nightstand. Brass or black metal, both with the same white linen shade, and it plugs into a standard outlet.
