The Ines is an open faced glass sphere sitting in a chrome wire cradle, and the opening is the whole design. A closed shade glows evenly in all directions and lights nothing in particular. This one has a wide circular mouth, so the light leaves in one direction as a defined wash while the colored outer shell stays quiet and matte.
Because the sphere sits loose in its cradle it tilts. Point it down at a book, up at a wall, or straight out across a desk. That is unusual at this size and price, and it turns an accent lamp into something you actually aim.
The glass is colored right through rather than painted on the outside, so the shell reads solid from any angle while the inner face stays milky white. Orange is the louder of the two, and the yellow is softer and creamier. The LED is built in and cycles three light tones from an inline switch on the cord.
