The Colette is a ribbed glass lamp on a turned brass base, and the ribbing is what makes it work. The glass is opaque rather than clear, so the bulb never shows through it, and the vertical fluting breaks the lit surface into facets instead of leaving it flat. It is an old trick and it still reads as expensive.
At fourteen inches tall it is a proper bedside lamp rather than an accent piece. The shade sits high enough to throw light onto a book without putting the bulb in your eyeline, and the narrow footprint leaves room on the table for everything else that lives there.
Five colours, all of them soft. These are milky pastel glass rather than deep jewel tones: milk white, a pale jade green, a mint blue, a blush pink and a warm peach.
