Description
Carpela stands on three curved wooden legs that meet under a white fabric drum. The tripod gives it a stance rather than a silhouette, so it holds a side table whether the light is on or off. Fabric spreads the light evenly across a reading chair instead of throwing a cone, which means no hotspot on the page and no hard shadow line across the room.
A tripod also takes less of the table than it looks like it will. Three small points instead of one wide weighted base leaves room for a book and a cup, and it does not plant a dark disc on the wood. At 13.8 inches across and 15 inches tall it anchors a side table without dominating it.
The on/off switch sits inline on the 59 inch cord, long enough to reach a socket set behind furniture, so you can find the light from a chair rather than feeling around the base. It takes a standard E26 medium base bulb up to 40W, and bulbs are not included. Three finishes: walnut, natural wood and black, each paired with the white shade. The shade lifts off for cleaning. It ships with a US plug and is for indoor dry locations only.
