The Alma is a squat travertine base carrying a rounded glass dome, and the proportions are the point. At 7.1 inches across and 6.7 inches tall it is slightly wider than it is high, which is why it reads as a solid object on a surface rather than a lamp perched on a stand. It suits a bedside table, a console, or the end of a shelf where a taller lamp would feel top heavy.

The base is cut from travertine, so the pitting and the shifts from cream to sand are the stone's own and no two bases match. The glass dome sits directly on it with nothing visible holding the two together, and because the glass is opaque rather than clear the lamp gives an even ambient glow instead of a visible filament. It is a light to read beside, not one to work under.

It takes a standard E27 bulb, which is not included, and switches from a button on the fitting, so there is nothing to mount and nothing to wire. Plug it in and it works. Keep the wattage at 10W or below to suit the shade.
